This Refund & Cancellation Policy explains how cancellations, changes, and refund requests are handled for cruise reservations made through Tharani Cruises ("we," "us," or "our"). Because we act as a third-party booking agent, the underlying cruise line's terms govern most refund outcomes.
1. Service Fee Disclosure
Tharani Cruises may charge a service or booking fee for assisting with the reservation, modification, or cancellation of a cruise. Where applicable, the service fee will be disclosed to you in writing or verbally before you authorize the booking. Service fees charged by Tharani Cruises are non-refundable once the booking has been processed.
2. Cruise Line Cancellation Schedules
Each cruise line publishes its own cancellation schedule based on how many days remain until departure. Typical schedules follow a tiered structure such as:
- More than 90+ days before sailing: deposit may be refundable (less any non-refundable portions and our service fee).
- 61 to 90 days before sailing: partial cancellation penalty.
- 31 to 60 days before sailing: substantial cancellation penalty.
- 0 to 30 days before sailing: typically 100% non-refundable.
The exact schedule, percentages, and dates depend on the cruise line, fare type, and stateroom category booked. Always review the full cancellation terms shared at the time of booking.
3. Non-Refundable Components
The following are typically non-refundable, regardless of when a cancellation is made:
- Tharani Cruises service / booking fee.
- Government taxes already remitted.
- Travel insurance premiums (subject to insurer policy).
- Any pre-paid third-party add-ons (excursions, transfers, hotels) where the supplier marks them non-refundable.
- Restricted "saver" or promotional fares marked non-refundable at booking.
4. How to Request a Cancellation or Refund

Please include your booking confirmation number, full name(s) on the reservation, ship name, and sail date. We will process eligible cancellations promptly and request the refund from the cruise line on your behalf.
5. Refund Processing Time
Once a cancellation is approved, refunds are issued by the cruise line back to the original method of payment. Processing typically takes 7 to 30 business days from the date the cruise line approves the refund, depending on the cruise line and your bank or card issuer. Tharani Cruises does not control the actual refund release date.
6. No-Show Policy
If you do not arrive at the port and board the ship, the cruise line typically treats the booking as a "no-show." No-shows are 100% non-refundable in nearly all cases. Travel insurance is strongly recommended for protection against unforeseen events.
7. Changes & Modifications
Most cruise lines allow modifications such as name corrections, stateroom upgrades, or sail date changes prior to final payment. After final payment, changes may be subject to fees or treated as a cancellation. We will share applicable change fees before processing.
8. Travel Insurance Disclosure
We recommend travel insurance to protect against unexpected cancellations, illness, weather disruptions, or trip interruption. Tharani Cruises does not underwrite insurance. If you purchase coverage through a third-party provider, the insurer's terms apply.
9. Disputes & Chargebacks
Please contact us first if you believe a refund has been incorrectly handled. We will work to resolve the issue with the cruise line. Filing a chargeback before contacting us may delay the resolution.
